Wildling Art Museum to offer general evaluations of artwork
By Staff
The Wildling Art Museum will offer a special event during the Santa Ynez Valley “Free Museum Day” on Saturday, March 1, sponsored by the Santa Ynez Valley Visitors Association.
Alissa J. Anderson, an independent art appraiser and guest curator of the Wildling’s current exhibition, Members Collect III, will be at the Wildling from noon to 2 p.m. to offer free general evaluations of artwork. She will offer advice about the relative value as well as condition and conservation needs for paintings and drawings done between 1800-1975. For official appraisals, contact here at Anderson Shea Fine Art Appraisals (www.andersonsheafineart.com).
The current exhibition, “Members Collect III,” which will run through March 30, allows for a rare view of ex-ceptional works from muse- um members’ private collections by notable artists such as Fernand Lungren, Edgar Payne, Carl Sammons, Lud-milla Welch, James Swinnerton, Channing Peake, Mil- ford Zornes, Ray Strong, Millard Sheets, John Cody and others.
The Wildling Art Museum, dedicated to presenting the art of America’s wilderness, is at 2329 Jonata St., Los Oli-vos (between Mattei’s Tavern and St. Mark’s Episcopal Church). Public hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. For more information, call the museum at 688-1082 or visit www.wildlingmuseum.org.
