The Bulldogs are in the Elite Eight and basking in March Madness for the first time in a long time.

The Hancock College men's basketball team celebrated its thrilling win over San Bernardino Valley College Saturday night. Friday, the Bulldogs will continue their stirring playoff run with a game at the CCCAA State Championship Tournament at Ventura College.

Hancock plays the City College of San Francisco Friday night in the state tournament quarterfinals. The game is in Ventura and is scheduled to tip-off at 7 p.m.

This is Hancock's first state championship tournament appearance since 1974.

The Bulldogs were seeded No. 10 in the South Regional and earned a spot in the state tourney with a pair of road upsets.

They are now 23-9 on the year and one of only four teams reaming from the south region. There are only eight teams in California still competing for the state title.

With a win Friday, the Bulldogs would advance to the state semifinals with a game on Sunday.

The Bulldogs are now the south’s No. 4 seed and will plays San Francisco, the top seed from the north.

Hancock punched its ticket to the Elite Eight with its 91-90 win at SBVC, which was the south’s No. 2 seed.

Santa Rosa (25-4) vs. San Diego City (31-2), 1 p.m.

Yuba (25-5) vs. Cerritos (26-5), 3 p.m.

Orange Coast (22-7) vs. Fresno City (27-4), 5 p.m.

Allan Hancock (23-9) vs. City College of San Francisco (30-1), 7 p.m.
