Santa Ynez Valley Arts is presenting a free, public Art Salon and social mixer on Tuesday, May 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Elverhoj Museum of Art & History in Solvang. A social hour and mixer that encourages connections in the arts community will take place from 5 to 6 p.m., followed by an informative presentation by Esther Jacobsen Bates, Elverhoj executive director and exhibit curator, and artist Luis Ramirez, who is featured in the current show, “Recuerdame/Remember Me," at the museum gallery. Attendees will also have the opportunity to view the exhibit.
The presentation will address how art curators create and contribute to public dialogues about ideas and art strategies that address the world in all its complexities. Artists attending who desire to pursue exhibits of their work may gain knowledge on how best to structure a proposal and enhance communication with museums and other venues. Art lovers may find expanded appreciation in experiencing shows and exhibits, understanding the energies and aims that contribute to them.
The Art Salons include social mixers, and those who attend are encouraged to bring finger food appetizers to share and/or a beverage of choice, as desired. This is an opportunity to meet up with others interested in the arts and become more connected with the arts community within the Santa Ynez Valley in a casual and friendly environment.
The Salon is sponsored by Santa Ynez Valley Arts Association (SYV Arts), which is committed to expanding and supporting access and exposure to the arts in the Santa Ynez Valley, thereby enhancing quality of life in our community. SYV Arts sponsors art programs, events, communications and other efforts that mutually benefit artists, businesses, residents and visitors to the Valley.
