Want to be a Halloween monster? Scare willing victims out of their shoes? Then the folks at Solvang Parks & Rec want to hear from you.

The Haunt, the giant haunted house co-sponsored by Solvang and Buellton Parks & Recreation departments, is in its 23rd year at the Solvang Festival Theater. The theme for 2016 is "Fractured Fairy Tales." For two terror-ific nights, a dark forest will come alive with creatures casting their shadows on fables such as "Little Red Riding Hood," "Hansel and Gretel," "Goldilocks" and more.

This community haunted house is open from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 29 and Oct 31. The first half-hour each night is kid-friendly.

Cost for adults is $11, for ages 13 and under, $9.  Tickets will be available beginning Oct. 3 at cityofsolvang.com or buelltonrec.com.

Volunteers are still needed to guide visitors and play the scary monster rolls. For more information on opportunities, call 688-7529.
