Beverly Mushlitz Morby

Beverly Morby (nee Mushlitz) age 91, died on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at her home in Solvang, California. She was born in Lewiston, Idaho on August 27, 1926. She moved to Ventura, California as a child and graduated from Ventura High School in 1944. She then went on to earn a bachelor's degree at Occidental College.

Beverly worked in the classroom as a primary school teacher in Ventura at Blanche Reynolds, Pierpont and Montalvo Schools where she most enjoyed teaching second grade.

At her 40th high school reunion, she found the love of her life, Harold E. Morby. They married in 1985 and spent the next 26 wonderful years exploring the world together. After Harold's death in 2011, Beverly moved to Atterdag Village in Solvang to be closer to her family.

She is preceded in death by her husband Harold E. Morby, parents Marguerite and Manford Eugene Mushlitz and her step-daughters Laura Wilkinson and Mary Morby Koontz.

She is survived by her sister, Wynona Nicolai and husband Nick; daughters Jane Guyn and Victoria Elliott and their husbands Jim and Jim; Harold's daughters Claudia Kaustinen and Teresa Cheval and their husbands Randall and Richard; son-in-law Dale Wilkinson, honorary daughter Juli Bruecker, nephew David Nicolai, 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Beverly passed away on Sunday evening at 5:07 pm, just in time for the cocktail hour – a tradition she and Harold had enjoyed for years. A memorial was held in the community room of Atterdag Village of Solvang on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 2:00 PM. She was laid to rest at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 27th at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, 5400 Valentine Rd. Ventura, CA 93003. A family gathering was held in her honor as the sun set later that evening.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Sandra Wilson of Solvang for her kindness during the final days of Beverly's life and Dr. Bob Garrison of Ventura for years of compassionate care. Special thanks to the caring staff at Atterdag Village of Solvang for their love and support over the years.
