As the sun set on August 5, 2017, so did David (Dave) Flora surrounded by his family and closest friends; after his 3-year battle with cancer.
Born January 19, 1955 to Robert (Bob) Flora and Maryann Faulding, a lifelong Santa Barbara Resident, Dave is survived by his wife, Karen, his 5 children; Malissa(Missy), Meagan(Megster), Breanne(Peanut), David Jr.(Buddy Boy), April(Squeaks), Malissa's and Buddy's Spouses, Matthew Lamberton Sr. and Jessica (Fletcher), his 7 grandchildren; Dante, Cassie, Jayden, Matthew Jr.(Doo-Dah), Gauge and newest addition due March 2018. Also his brothers Rick and wife Penny and brother Jimmy and wife Kim, Aunt and Uncle William & Dee Faulding and their children.
For those who were lucky enough to have known him Dave was hardworking, could fix anything (with a little Duct tape, super glue and a rubber band), enjoyed his many trips to Hawaii, the Ocean and surfing, camping and above all his family.
Dave was most proud of his grandchildren who he made his #1, even when his health limited his energy. He, despite his health, always pushed and made it to any school event, baseball game or activity they had. He found strength through his children and grandchildren to make the trying and exhausting days easier to keep going.
Everything in his life wouldn't have been possible without his best friend, and wife of almost 30 years Karen. together they were side-by-side through the toughest 3 years of their lives. Although these years were the last, they became closer and made many lasting and some of the best memories to keep his memory alive.
Although Dave took the 'fast lane” to begin building the Eternity where they all will one day meet again, the world truly lost one of its finest and without a doubt most loved.
A paddle out service will be held in memory of Dave on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at Ledbetter Beach 11am to 7pm.
