David Lawrence Lee passed away December 19,2017 in Santa Ynez, CA of MSA, a form of Parkinson's. He was born August 19, 1937 in Painesville, Ohio to Parents Lawrence R Lee and Susan Katila, both from Ohio.
David graduated in '56 fom Van Nuys High School. He graduated from UCSB in '60' and started teaching at Dorsey High School that year. David helped start the Surfer magazine, married Sylvia House and had two daughters, Sheri & Shannan, and 3 grandchildren. He was called to active duty for a year in the Air Force National Guard in the midst of the Cuban missile crises.
Dave taught Art and Algebra at Newport Harbor High School and started a company designing and manufacturing antique reproduction furniture. In 1975 he married Patti Lee. In 1997 David retired, purchased a lot in Santa Ynez, and built his home. He played tennis at Hans Christian Andersen Park three days a week.
A Funeral Mass with Military Honors will be held at 10am on Saturday, January 6th at Old Mission Santa Ines. In lieu of flowers, donations to 'Society of St. Vincent de Paul ' at Circle V Ranch Camp c/o Old Mission Santa Ines,
