Jerry L. Ewing, born to Aubrey (Slim) and Helen (Riley) Ewing, on May 3, 1930 passed away on August 18, 2017 in Prescott Valley, AZ. Jerry graduated from Nebraska City High School in 1947 and continued his education at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln (once a Cornhusker always a Cornhusker); graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism. He then served his Country in the Marine Corp until September 1954.
Jerry had a long career in the insurance field which started in Omaha, NE. and took him to several States including California, Texas, Colorado and ending in Santa Barbara, CA. where he was the Vice President of Chubb Sovereign Life.
His retirement was mainly spent in Solvang, CA. where he lived since 1977. He was involved in various charities. He did taxes for seniors at the Senior Center for many years, and was a member of the Board of Directors for the Humane Society and volunteered in their thrift store. In 2012 he was awarded Man of the Year award by the Santa Vnez Valley Foundation for his many hours of service to his community. Jerry also spent many hours researching the genealogy of his family. He found that he had members of his family who had served in the American Revolution enabling him to become a member of the Sons of the American Revolution.
Jerry was married to Betty (Pepler) Ewing on August 14, 1956. They were proud parents of James Ewing of Studio City, CA., and Jeffrey Ewing, who predeceased Jerry in December of 1979, in Solvang, CA.
Jerry and Betty moved to Prescott Valley, AZ. in 2015 to live out the remaining years of their retirement. Yes, you may have met them out walking their dogs, two little shih tzus, Madison and Roxy.
