Linda Pratt, 76 years old, of Santa Ynez, California, passed away suddenly at the Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital on Tuesday, December 26, 2017, due to cardiac arrest.
Linda was born in Bell, California on June 18, 1941 and grew up in South Gate with her parents and older brother, Don Courtney. She moved to the Santa Ynez Valley in February 1960 after marrying Don Pratt on Valentine's Day in South Gate.
She soon became a mother of 3 children and a stay at home mom, while Don worked at the Solvang Mill and Lumber Yard. Linda was a past president of the Alpha Pi organization and became a preschool teacher at the Santa Ynez Valley Presbyterian Preschool in the mid 1960's and 1970's. Later, she became a bookkeeper for several businesses here in the Valley and eventually for her son, Jeff's, concrete pumping business. She retired from this job in 2015.
Don and Linda spent many weekends on the road in their fifth wheel trailer, traveling the United States and Canada several times. They were members of the Elks Wagoneers and had many fun adventures along the way.
She was also a founding member of the local DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) organization, Refugio Del Cielo. Linda enjoyed participating in parades and other activities for this group.
Linda is survived by her husband Don Pratt and her 3 grandchildren; Cinde Rasmussen (Steve), Jeff Pratt (June), and Kellye Joughin. She has 8 grandchildren; Nicole (Brent), Allan, Andrew, Jentry, Parker, Peyton, Travis, and Justin. Also 2 great-grandchildren Corbin and Colbie Craine. In addition, her brother, Don Courtney (Sandy), brother-in-law- Kenny Pratt (Mardell), step-sisters Lisa Czenzek (Doug) and Leslie Hoffman (Robert). She will be missed by many nieces and nephews, who referred to her as “Crazy Auntie Linda”.
Linda was preceded in death by her mother, Alberta (Peach) Courtney and her father, Chuck Courtney. Also her step-mother, Patsy Courtney, and a step brother, Scott Sandelin.

A graveside service was held at noon on Friday, January 5th at Oak Hill Cemetery in Ballard.
