One hundred and fifty members of the Solvang Senior Center celebrated the holidays with their annual Christmas luncheon in the Sycamore Room at the Alisal Guest Ranch, which was festively decorated for the occasion.
The luncheon menu included salad, roast turkey, sage dressing and mashed potatoes, topped off by a Grand Marnier Buche de Noel for dessert.
Pianist Bill Powell entertained with a wide array of well-known holiday songs. A lively raffle and silent auction with items donated by Valley businesses and residents added to the festivities. Board member Glenna Hughes crafted treat-filled crochet Christmas stockings placed at each seat.
"Members vied to chances to win a New Year's Eve 'party in a basket' and a hand-decorated wreath," said director Ellen Albertoni. The silent auction included a handmade vintage Amish quilt and knitting supplies.
The Christmas luncheon is the Senior Center's largest event of the year.
