It's one of our favorite traditions at the Santa Ynez Valley News. Each Thanksgiving, we ask first-grade students to tell us how their familes celebrate the holiday or how they cook a turkey. The answers are sometimes comical, sometimes sweet, occasionally tinged with sadness, but always authentic. We extend our appreciation to teachers Eugenia Pappas at the Santa Ynez Valley Charter School, Heather Blanchard at Los Olivos School, Silvana Patterson at College School Santa Ynez and Chelsea Daley at The Family School for their invaluable participation.

We publish these letters complete with all their first-grade misspellings and grammatical errors. Figuring out what the kids are wanting to share with us is always part of the fun. Happy Thanksgiving!
