There’s no better time to treat guests to an authentic multicourse Scandinavian meal than during Danish Days. With that food for thought in mind, the First & Oak restaurant is offering a one-night-only Scandinavian Tasting Menu at the Mirabelle Inn on Saturday, Sept. 16 in Solvang.
Inspired by the weekend celebration of Danish Days, First & Oak’s executive chef Steven Snook will prepare the exclusive degustation-style experience. Chef Snook’s special menu is priced at $89 per person, and does not include tax or gratuity. Dinner will be served from 7 to 10 p.m., and will include four courses.
The menu includes octopus with aebleskiver, Tokoyaki Bonito and chili mayo; beet-cured salmon with potato rosti, creme fraiche and pickled onion; shrimp toast with tempura, quail egg and caviar; Boudin Blanc sausage with braised red cabbage and grain mustard. For dessert: Danish pastry is served with local plums and milk ice cream; plus, an apropos bonus of sweet hand-crafted chocolate Lego Bricks.
Wine pairings for each course are selected by First & Oak’s sommelier Jonathan Rosenson. Selections range from chardonnay, sauvignon blanc and pinot noir to a special late harvest wine.
First & Oak is located at 409 First St. (at the corner of Oak Street) in Solvang.
