From $10 bicycle helmet fittings, to free flu shots and cholesterol screenings, Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital (SYVCH) has something for everyone at this year’s Health Fair.
The public is invited to the 35th annual Health Fair on Sat., Oct. 7. The health fair takes place from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Santa Ynez Valley Marriott Hotel on McMurray Road in Buellton.
SYVCH features free seasonal flu shots (first come, first vaccinated for those 18 and older and not pregnant) at the Health Fair.
This year, SYVCH is also offering free total cholesterol and glucose finger-stick screenings, available to the first 150 attendees (no fasting required).
In addition, the Health Fair features free blood pressure checks and free osteoporosis screenings using ultrasound technology (first come, first tested; includes results print-out).
Health Fair participants are invited to meet SYVCH Auxiliary’s certified Pet Therapy dogs and their handlers.
Hands-on cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) demonstrations will also be held.
Staff from Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital’s Trauma Services, with assistance from SYVCH emergency room staff, will properly fit safety helmets for children and adults for $10 cash per helmet (an estimated $40–$70 value).
All ages are welcome
Participants of all ages are encouraged to discover more than 40 exhibitors and display booths, where information about SYVCH departments will be available, including Advanced Imaging, Nutrition, Surgical Services, Physicians Clinic, and other services offered at the hospital, located on Viborg Road in Solvang.
Free refreshments are served throughout the Health Fair. Plus, attendees can register — and be present to win — prize drawings every half hour. A total of 35 gift bags, including one grand prize, are offered to celebrate the 35th anniversary of this free community event.
Coordinated and hosted by Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital Foundation, the SYVCH Health Fair is staffed by hospital team members, volunteers from the hospital’s Auxiliary team, and the SYVCH Foundation board of directors.
