It may be a month later than it is marked in most parts of the country, but Earth Day is nevertheless worth celebrating in the Santa Ynez Valley. The informational, educational and fun event is scheduled for Sunday, May 21, from noon to 5 p.m. at River View Park in Buellton.
Hosted by the Santa Ynez Valley Botanic Garden and the city of Buellton, the 15th annual SYV Earth Day has several new features for 2017.

The live music lineup has expanded. Johnny Hawthorn takes to the stage at noon, followed by Grammy Award-nominated CALICO at 1:15 p.m. Local favorite, the Ruben B. Dalton Band, headlines from 3:15 to 5 p.m.
Local wineries that distinguish themselves with their sustainable vineyard practices, including Beckmen Vineyards, Buttonwood Farm Winery & Vineyard and Alma Rosa Winery & Vineyards, will be pouring in the Beer & Wine Garden.
The Green Car Show will have 2017 Chevy Bolt EV, Chevy Spark EV, and Tesla Model S models on display.
