"Seed Survivor," a free curriculum-based program that teaches school children about plants and the importance of agriculture, visited Oak Valley Elementary School on Feb. 24.

The program arrived in a tricked out trailer from Agrium Inc./Crop Production Services in Santa Maria. Students from the 4th and 5th grade were able to explore multi-media and virtual reality games, a sunflower seed planting station, and talking walls. The aim was to teach them about the life cycle, water cycle, photosynthesis, and nutrients needed for healthy crop production.
