Students at Santa Ynez Valley Charter School were joined by students from nearby Dunn School on Feb. 28 for an assembly belatedly celebrating Chinese New Year.

The event to welcome the Year of the Dog included students performing the lion dance, a traditional Chinese dance often performed during new year celebrations, as well as arts and crafts.

This year, the school's annual cultural celebration included an agility demonstration through an obstacle-course by border collies from Paws at Play in Santa Ynez.

Paws for Cause was also there to provide a demonstration inside the organization's mobile spaying and neutering van.
