The following is taken from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department commander's recap for the Santa Ynez Valley patrol. Those appearing as "arrested" have only been arrested on suspicion of the crime indicated and are presumed innocent.
Sunday, March 4:
INCIDENT — When deputies contacted a couple in the parking structure of the Chumash Casino Resort about 10:30 a.m., they discovered both were on probation in Ventura County and conducted a probation compliance search of their vehicle.
The search allegedly revealed a methamphetamine pipe in the vehicle door pocket where the man was standing as well as two hypodermic syringes near the center console. A lock pick set was also allegedly found inside the glove compartment.
When questioned, the man said the paraphernalia belonged to him, and the woman claimed she found the lock pick set. The man was issued a citation for suspicion of possessing drug paraphernalia. The woman surrendered the lock pick set to deputies for destruction.
Saturday, March 10:
INCIDENT — A man who was spotted sitting in his parked vehicle about 3:10 a.m. at the intersection of Baseline Avenue and Edison Street in Santa Ynez allegedly admitted to deputies he had smoked marijuana to help him sleep.
He was also in possession of an Altoids mints tin containing three partially smoked marijuana cigarettes. He was cited for suspicion of possessing unsealed cannabis products while driving and was released at the scene.
