Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7139 will honor all veterans and their families with its annual Veterans Day program at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at the Vetrans Memorial Building on Mission Drive in Solvang.
The ceremony will include a number of speakers as well as patriotic music, said Alvin Salge, commander of VFW Post 7139.
“On Veterans Day, we honor and salute all American veterans who, throughout our history, have unselfishly placed their lives on the line for freedom,” Salge said. “This year we especially honor Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans. These wars have been drawn out for 15 years, longer than any wars in which the U.S. has been involved.
“Even now, our active-duty veterans are still facing combat against ISIS and the Afghan insurgents,” he said.
Pastor Chris Brown will give the invocation and benediction. Entertainment will be provided by the Santa Ynez Valley Master Chorale, under the direction of Michael Eglin, and the Santa Ynez Valley High School Band, under the direction of Cameron Clarno.
Following the program, a luncheon will be served by Country Garden Catering courtesy of Pam Gnekow, executive director of the Buellton Senior Center, Salge said.
He added that all veterans, their families and other citizens are invited to attend, and veterans from allied countries who fought alongside U.S. military personnel are also welcome.
