Fire-prone areas need better protection
Many have lost their homes in recent fires. I remember a Laguna Beach fire years ago where hundreds of homes were lost. One home was left standing amid the rubble because the owner built it to be fireproof. It had thick concrete walls, a tile roof, double-pane glass, stucco siding, boxed eves and fireproof planting. I hope those that rebuild use the latest fire proofing with the hope this does not happen again.
Of the 15 most expensive losses due to fire, California has eight of those, the present fires excluded. Fire really is a California thing. Those in fire-prone areas need the best fire protection available.
