The 28th annual Kiwanis Central Coast All-Star Basketball Spectacular will be held on Saturday at Hancock College’s Joe White Memorial Gymnasium.
The Spectacular, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Santa Maria Valley, matches the best senior boys and girls from Northern Santa Barbara County against the top seniors from San Luis Obispo County.
The girls’ game tips off at 5 p.m.
The boys’ game follows at 7 p.m.
There will also be 3-point shooting contests for both girls and boys and a boys slam dunk contest as part of the event.
Righetti High’s Desiree Hitch will coach the northern Santa Barbara girls team with Morro Bay’s Tyler Fechner coaching the SLO County stars.
Santa Ynez High’s Mike Alexander will coach the Santa Barbara boys team while Nipomo’s Kevin Hitchen will coach the SLO County boys.
There will be a snack bar hosted by AHC Athletics.
General admission is $8 with student and child admission $4.
All proceeds from the Spectacular are dedicated to a special fund that covers expenses
for Good Samaritan Shelter children to participate in sports programs and to scholarships for local high school seniors.
Two Santa Ynez players are listed on the roster for the South side, one each in the girls and boys games.
Zack Hewitt averaged 23 points, six rebounds, eight assists, two steals and a block for the Pirates this past season. He was named to the All-Los Padres League First Team and was an LCCN All-Area Second Team pick.
Hewitt is listed on the South boys squad roster.
On the girls side, Santa Ynez's Ashley Quiroga is listed on the roster. Quiroga averaged nine points and four rebounds for the Pirates last season. She was named to the All-LPL Second Team.

Fifth and sixth graders, and their families, will be admitted to Hancock College Saturday home baseball and softball games free of charge, weather permitting, according to a school-issued press release.
According to the release, the free admission will be part of the Bulldog Bound program. The program is designed to introduce fifth-through-eighth graders to the campus and the services that are available there.
The Hancock softball team will host Taft at 12 p.m. in a non-conference game. The baseball team will play Santa Barbara City College at 2 p.m. in a Western State Conference North Division game.
Patrick Ostini Memorial Baseball Game
Cabrillo High School is hosting its annual Patrick Ostini Memorial Alumni Baseball Game on Saturday, April 21, at McIntyre Field.
Cabrillo High School varsity baseball batting practice will be at 11 a.m.
Cabrillo alumni batting practice will be at 11:45 p.m.
The game begins at 1 p.m.

Smiley Wilkins Memorial Golf
The Santa Maria-Lompoc chapter of the NAACP is hosting the 24th annual Smiley Wilkins Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament on Saturday, April 21 at The Mission Club in Vandenberg Village.
The entry fee for the scramble format tournament is $135.
The cost for all foursomes that pre-pay by March 23 is $450. The registration deadline without the discount is April 15.
The entry fee includes one round of golf, golf carts, tee prizes and an awards dinner.
There will also be door prizes, a 50/50 drawing and an auction.
Door prize packets that include two mulligans and 40 door prize tickets can be pre-purchased for $40.
For non-golfers who would like to attend, dinner is available for $20.
The annual Smiley Wilkins Memorial raises funds that are used to provide scholarships to students who demonstrate the potential for academic success.
Hole sponsorships are also available for $150.
