Both the Santa Ynez boys and girls soccer teams won non-league matches over Arroyo Grande on Tuesday night. 

The Santa Ynez girls team started the season with a win at Arroyo Grande, while Santa Ynez moved to 1-0-1 with a win at home.

Santa Ynez 3, Arroyo Grande 2

Aile Uribe gave the Pirates (1-0) a 3-1 lead with a goal in the 71st minute at Arroyo Grande's Doug Hitchen Stadium, and the Pirates held off the Eagles (0-1).

Monica Pizano tallied in the second minute and Heather Rennie scored in the 36th as the Pirates led 2-0 at halftime.

Julia Pritchard assisted on Santa Ynez's second and third goals. Pirates' goalkeeper Breanna Rodrigues made four saves.

Boys soccer

Santa Ynez 3, Arroyo Grande 1

The Pirates (1-0-1) earned their first win of the season with a victory over the Eagles at Santa Ynez.

Fernando Garcia got the Pirates going quickly. He started the scoring in the second minute.

Spencer Hall scored for Santa Ynez in the 20th minute, and the Pirates led 2-1 at halftime. Sam Villa scored Santa Ynez's last goal in the 78th minute.

Ivan Virgen assisted on that one. Assists for the Pirates' first two goals were unavailable.
