There are a lot of familiar faces in this week's Player of the Week voting.
Dino Maldonado, Toa Taua, Blake Truhitte, Dustin Gregg and Gabe Prendergast are all established stars, many of whom have been up for the Player of the Week award before.
In fact, Gregg won the Week Zero honor. And he's up for it again after another stellar game leading the Pirates.
I know the competition Santa Ynez has faced hasn't been elite, but Gregg has surpassed my expectations. After powering the Santa Ynez offense against San Marcos, Gregg was nearly perfect again, going 12 for 15 for 277 yards and 3 TDs.
Dino Maldonado, against a pretty sturdy Righetti defense, went off. Maldonado, unofficially, completed 22 of 28 passes for 318 yards and four TDs. He didn't throw an INT. He also rushed for a TD on seven carries for 51 yards.
The best two-way performance came in a loss: Jonathan Ramos caught four passes for 75 yards and a scores, made seven tackles, broke up three passes and also blocked a field goals as the Saints fell at Santa Barbara, 47-26.
Gabe Prendergast was right there as well, with a 70-yard TD, three catches for 74 yards and a pick-six.
Darin Miller, on the 8-man side, had an average performance for him: Two TD passes and a 51-23 win over Flintridge Prep. It'll be fun to see where Miller and the Spartans are after hosting Mojave on Friday night in a big-time 8-man game.
