Dino Maldonado was solid last season.
He's been practically flawless this season.
And after lighting up Righetti in a Week One win, Maldonado was voted the SMT Player of the Week.
Maldonado beat out stiff competition from Lompoc's Toa Taua and Santa Ynez's Dustin Gregg to win the Week One honor.
And he's going to have a chance to win the Week Two award as well.
Maldonado threw four TDs and ran for another against Righetti and threw four more against St. Bonaventure on Friday.
Against the Warriors, Maldonado completed 25 of 32 pass attempts for 389 yards and 4 TDs against no interceptions. On the season, he's thrown nine TDs with two interceptions.
Maldonado was nearly just as good against the Seraphs on Friday as he was against the Warriors in Week One. Against St. Bonaventure, Maldonado went 20 for 27 for 286 yards, 4 TDs and no INTs.
He'll surely be up for the Week Two honor, with voting opening up later Monday night.
Gregg has been nearly as good as Maldonado, though St. Joseph's QB has done it against better competition. Gregg threw for 277 yards on 12 of 15 passing with 3 TDs against Carpinteria.
Against Nipomo, Taua had 11 carries for 133 yards and a TD. He was even more effective against San Marcos last week, ripping off TD runs all three times he touched the ball.
