C&D LLP recently hosted its annual luncheon for more than 50 bookkeeping and accounting professionals at the Alisal Guest Ranch in Solvang.

The accounting firm has hosed the event since 1994, and it has become popular with bookkeeping professionals throughout the Santa Barbara County, a company spokesman said.

Attendees included bookkeepers, chief financial officers and controllers from leading firms in Santa Ynez Valley as well as elsewhere on the Central Coast.

The year’s program, “CyberSecurity: Risks, Responsibilities & Best Practices,” was presented by John Hunt, chief executive officer and president, and Mike Husted, senior network engineer, of CompuVision and Vision Communications.

The presentation included the challenges businesses face in implementing security measures to keep customer, client and employee information safe and what companies must do if their information is hacked or even if there is a possibility of a hack.

Other topics included email security best practices and red flags and how much of anyone’s personal identity is available on the internet.

C&D LLP is the largest firm of certified public accountants in Santa Ynez Valley and one of the largest in Santa Barbara County, employing 30 professionals, 14 of them certified public accountants, the spokesman said.
