First Bank will open the doors to its new location at 1992 Old Mission Drive, Unit 105, in Solvang with a red-ribbon cutting at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, with the Solvang Chamber of Commerce.

The grand opening, scheduled to continue until 6 p.m., will include wine, food and the opportunity to take a look at the branch’s new facility.

First Bank has been located at 595 Alamo Pintado Road, so it is only a short hop across Highway 246 to its new location in the former Valley Plazar that’s being completely renovated to become The Merkantile.

The Solvang branch is managed by Karen Bowker.

Established in 1906 as a single family-owned branch — Creve Coeur Farmer’s Bank — to serve residents of a small farming community near St. Louis, Missouri, it later became known as Creve Coeur Bank, then First Bank of Missouri in 1973 and finally simply First Bank in 1986.

With branches in Missouri, Illinois and California, it is now one of the largest family-owned banks in the United States.

For more information, call the Solvang branch at 688-0592.
