We wrote our first story on the local impact of the coronavirus on February 27, and we have seen a steady increase in the number and severity of COVID-19 stories since then. Here is a collection of local photos that photographer Len Wood was able to capture, showing the ever widening impact of the virus in Santa Barbara County.

Along with declaring a local emergency, which made the city eligible for potential reimbursements from FEMA, the City Council voted unanimously to waive late fees and nonpayment shut-offs for utility customers, to close City Hall to the public beginning Wednesday, and to cancel all future committee and commission meetings — except for those of the City Council and Planning Commission — through April.

City of Lompoc officials reported that they are working with area agencies to protect the safety of homeless people and the general public amid the ongoing health crisis, while Good Samaritan Shelters has altered its policies in an effort to ensure that people in its Lompoc and Santa Maria shelters are kept safe and protected.
