The public is invited to a free historical presentation and film viewing held by the Buellton Historical Society at Pea Soup Andersen’s Restaurant on March 13 at 7 p.m. Local Buellton resident Rudie Henderson will share a collection of 16 mm films of WWII pilots training at Lone Pine Airport in Owens Valley during the early 1940s, where Henderson grew up. Also shown will be movies related to George P. Putnam, famous publisher, author, and husband of Amelia Earhart; his books are available through the local library system.

This free presentation is one in an ongoing series sponsored by the Buellton Historical Society. Past presentations have featured local genealogist Karen Harris sharing local history from the Santa Ynez Valley News and Rudie Henderson with a presentation on “The Wedding of the Waters.”

Updates will be given on the next series of historical plaques being developed by the Historical Society to be placed within the community. Light refreshments will be provided.

For information about the event or the Historical Society, contact Patty FitzGerald at 805-688-8437.
