The American Cancer Society has come up with a clever new twist on fundraising. The Society's Santa Ynez Valley Relay for Life is hosting a cornhole tournament at Figueroa Mountain Brewing Company in Buellton starting at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 21.

Seven centuries after the game is believed to have been invented, cornhole has taken the country by storm. The game itself is simple. Teams of two to four players (this event is designated as two players per team), toss bags full of dried corn kernels or similar material towards a platform 27 feet away. The goal is to get the bag into the six inch round hole cut into the platform.

A donation of $25 per player is requested. All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society which helps fund cancer research and supports local cancer patient services.

To sign up, contact Nichole Takeda at 949-735-1809 or nichole.takeda@cancer.org.
