David Daniel Wulftange went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 3, 2018, surrounded by his loved ones. David was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on December 20, 1936, to Frank Wulftange and Margaret Callahan Wulftange. David was the third of four sons. After his father's death, David and his family moved to San Jose, California, where he graduated from Bellarmine College Preparatory and San Jose State. He and Mary-Jean Luneau Wulftange, his wife of fifty years, raised their three daughters Elise, Martha and Anne in the Santa Ynez Valley.
David worked for ITT at Vandenberg AFB doing computer programming to support satellite launches and telemetry. After his retirement from ITT, he started an exciting chapter as a consultant from which he retired in 2007.
David felt it important to give back to the community and did so in many ways. He volunteered for several years with the Santa Ines Mission youth group. He was a Eucharistic Minister and took Commiunion to the sick. He served a term on the Santa Ynez Elementary School Board. His annual favorite was running the Chuck-a-Luck booth for the Santa Ines Mission's Fiesta.
David is survived by his wife and daughters, his brothers Frank (and Margarita) and Joseph (and Marian), his grandchildren Aidan, Ciara, Felix, Ayla, Mia and Alivia.
A Memorial Mass for David was celebrated by Father Peter Banks, O.F.M. Cap. of Old Mission Santa Ines on December 14, 2018, at St. Michael's Church in Poway, California.
