Neil Macdonald passed away on April 25, 2019 in Solvang, California after a short battle with cancer.
Neil was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 5, 1936 and lived throughout the United States, primarily Streator, Illinois, Los Angeles and Solvang, California. He received his Bachelor in Economics from Illinois Wesleyan University and was a long-time residential real-estate broker.
Neil loved living in Solvang with his wife Judy Macdonald for more than 22 years where they enjoyed sitting in the sun, taking rides in the car, reading scores of novels, and watching Neil's beloved Chicago Cubs. Judy is a consummate baker and Neil enjoyed her pies most of all.
Neil is survived by his wife of 33 years Judith (Judy) Macdonald, daughters Lora Zagnoli (Brian), Melinda Johansson (Ole), Jennifer MacDuff (Gordon), and Jeanine Elson, granddaughters Skyler MacDuff and Reesa Partida, and grandson Taylor Zagnoli. Neil was preceded in death by his father Victor Macdonald and mother Ruth Adrienne Coe.
The grief we carry is tempered by the gratitude we feel for Neil's life and the knowledge that he is at home in the arms of his loving Savior.
A memorial service is planned for May 4, 2019 at 2pm, at Ballard Country Church, 2465 Baseline Avenue, Solvang, CA 93463.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Neil's memory to Visiting Nurse & Hospice Care of Santa Barbara.
