Dustin L. Grizzanti

Spc. Dustin L. Grizzanti, U.S. Army, of Los Alamos died Monday, Nov. 2, 2004, in an accident at Fort Bragg Army Base, Fort Bragg, N.C.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, 2004, in the Chapel of Magner-Maloney Funeral Home, with interment and full military honors to follow in the Los Alamos Cemetery.

Dustin was born Feb. 26, 1980, in Long Beach to Dana and Stephanie (Rivera) Grizzanti. Dustin and his family relocated to Sacramento where they resided from 1989 to 1997.

They then moved to Lompoc, where Dustin was a member of the 1998 graduating class of Cabrillo High School.

During these years, he played football and was in the Drama Club. Following his graduation, Dustin was employed at different positions until his enlistment in the U.S. Army in September 2002.

He served as a medic in the 82nd Airborne Division, with seven months duty in Iraq, returning to Ft. Bragg in March of 2004.

Survivors include his wife, Jennifer M. (Martin) Grizzanti, daughter of Richard and Donna Stewert, long-time Valley residents; expected daughter Ginger Dusty Grizzanti, due Feb. 23, 2005; son Jayden Kendig, of Chandler, Ariz.; daughter Yazmin Grizzanti, of Lompoc; parents, Stephanie and Richard Williams of Oakhurst; brother, Ricky Williams of Oakhurst; sister, Shena Grizzanti; paternal grandparents Doris and Walt Winkle, of Fullerton; Betty Williams; and nephews and nieces.

Dustin was preceded in death by his father, Dana Grizzanti on May 1, 1996, and his maternal grandmother, Marion Rivera.

Oscar J. Russell

Services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, at the Solvang Lutheran Home for Oscar J. Russell, 94, of Solvang who died Nov. 2, 2004, at Solvang Lutheran Home.

Russell was one of 11 children born in Bluff Siding, Okla., on April 14, 1910.

He traveled from San Luis Obispo to Oregon and Wisconsin and, in later years, Solvang where he resided at the Solvang Lutheran Home for the past eight years.

At the age of 13, he worked for room and board at a neighboring ranch, breaking horses and doing general ranch work while continuing his education to the eighth grade.

Later he was employed with the Southern Pacific Railroad, serving the area from San Francisco to Los Angeles as a track foreman until his retirement in 1972.

He is survived by a step-daughter in Buellton; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Frank E. Krska

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004, at Eagle Point National Cemetery in Eagle Point, Ore., for Frank E. Krska, 91, of Grants Pass, Ore., who died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004. Memorial services were held at Cave Junction Community Bible Church with Dr. Don Blackburn officiating.

Krska was born Sept. 19, 1913, in Pittsburgh, Pa. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Camp White. On May 16, 1948, in Springfield, Ill., he married the former Sara Jane Barbre, who preceded him in death on May 3, 2001. For many years he was a bus driver and worked in building maintenance for Santa Paula High School in Santa Paula, retiring in 1976. He also owned and operated his own janitorial business and landscape business from the 1960s to 1980s. He lived in Filmore for 20 years and served on the Board of Ventura County Schools Federal Credit Union. He moved to Oregon 17 years ago and lived in Cave Junction, Ore., before moving to Grants Pass in 1998.

He was a member of Redwood Country Church in Grants Pass.

Survivors include five daughters, Madaline Krska of Valley Springs, Calif., Phyllis Demo of Panama City Beach, Fla., Kathleen Hazlett of Tarzana, Candace Schmidt of Las Vegas, Nev., Janice Hawley of Grants Pass; three sons, Michael Krska and Jeffrey Krska, both of Cave Junction; and John Krska of Buellton; a sister, Elizabeth Woods of Milwaukee, Wis..; 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
