Robert Neil Wilkerson, age 95 of Los Olivos, CA, went home to heaven on February 16, 2019. Robert was born on May 13, 1923 in Sydney, Arkansas to Robert and Florence Finley Wilkerson.

As one of seven children, he grew up on a farm while attending local schools in Arkansas and worked as a school bus driver at age 16. An invitation from his brother to transplant to San Diego CA landed him a job working in aircraft assembly. As a WW II veteran, he served 4 yrs. with the US Army Air Corp rescuing crash site victims in India and China. Upon discharge, he began a lifelong career as a carpenter in the San Fernando Valley. He relocated with his family to Los Olivos in 1960. His carpentry skills obtained him a job as the builder of the First Baptist Church of Solvang where he was also a Charter Member.

Upon retirement, Robert served on several work and witness mission trips around the world. He generously gave of his time and resources to advance the sharing of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Robert is survived by his children, Don and Maria Wilkerson of Los Olivos and Ed and Julie Hammett of Santa Maria. He has 11 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

A memorial will be held in his honor at 2:00pm on Saturday March 2, 2019 at Loper Funeral Chapel, 2465 Baseline Ave. Ballard, CA.
