Sister Mary Anne Tani of the Eucharist, OCD, peacefully passed away in Santa Barbara, Ca at 6:40pm January 7, 2019.
Marilyn Tani was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on September 3, 1927. She attended Farrington High School in Hawaii, and then went on to continue her education at University of Hawaii and completed her degree at the University of Dayton, OH.
While she was in college, a priest planted a seed in her heart to convert to Catholicism and become a religious sister. Shortly after she entered the Carmelites in Long Beach, CA. After so many years in Long Beach, she was relocated to these other locations over the passing years: Solvang, Santa Clara, and Lompoc.
Marilyn enjoyed drawing, sketching, painting, especially flowers. She enjoyed the beauty and detail of God's breathtaking creations. She delighted in singing, listening to music including instrumentals, especially catholic hymns in the monastery.
She was preceded in death by Kaisuke (father) and Yoshi (mother) Tani and all of her 6 siblings: Ronald, Richard, Edwin, Thomas, Kimie Kinoshita, and Leatrice Yamaguchi. She is survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday January 17th, 2019 at Mission Santa Ines with an 11am Viewing, 11:30am Rosary, 12pm Mass followed by a short reception in the parish hall and concluding with her burial at 3:00pm at Lompoc cemetery.
