Residents of Solvang have been invited to recycle their Christmas trees through Waste Management's curbside tree collection program. Customers may place their Christmas trees three feet from their trash container or cut to fit inside their green waste container by 6 a.m. on their collection day from Jan. 4-8.
All trees must have been cleared of their decorations including tinsel, lights, and tree stands. Trees over 6 feet should be cut in half. Trees with stands and flocked trees can not be recycled and will not be accepted.
Solvang residents who would like to dispose of their tree earlier than the collection date may drop it off at Waste Management, 97 Commerce Drive, Buellton, Wednesday-Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed 11-11:30 a.m.).
"Christmas trees can be recycled and given back to nature in the form of mulch," said Eloisa Orozco of Waste Management. "We're asking that everyone makes their festivities a little greener by doing their part."
