Sparkie was at the rural Olga Reed School in Los Alamos.
The school has about 200 students in kindergarten to eighth grade. It became part of the Orcutt Union School District in July 2011. Since then, it has added employees from elsewhere in the district, including the principal, three classroom teachers, a speech therapist and a special education resource specialist.
Numerous murals on campus highlight the history of the school and provide color and inspiration. Many mature trees provide beauty and protection from the sun. There are playgrounds, a basketball court, sitting areas and a vegetable garden.
Check back here next Friday for another “Where’s Sparkie?” contest.
