The winners of the 2014 Santa Ynez Valley Scarecrow Fest were announced Nov. 18, with the Best in Valley title and trophy going to Jose Pedro Meza Santos, of Eco Wine Furniture.
Approximately 200 scarecrows were on display throughout the Valley, with the public invited to judge their favorites in a variety of categories.
In Los Olivos, the Best Business Theme award went to the Malibu Family Wines tasting room. Standing Sun Wines was voted Spookiest in Buellton, and the Spookiest in Solvang was Parts Unknown. Solvang's Best Use of Recycled Materials went to Wandering Dog Wine Bar.
The overall winner in each community competed for Best in Valley honors. Eco Wine Furniture represented Solvang, and Alta Maria Vineyards represented Los Olivos. Santa Ynez was represented by a creation from Jennifer Pedersen's 5th grade class at Solvang Elementary School, that "lived" at the Santa Ynez Valley Historical Museum, and Buellton's best was an entry from Parks Plaza Theatre.
Eco Wine Furniture will hold the trophy through the end of the 2015 Santa Ynez Valley Scarecrow Fest.
