The Solvang Rotary recently hosted a fiesta-themed meal at the Solvang Senior Center.
Thanks to the Rotary, “a cozy group of happy members were treated to delicious Mexican food and an evening of festive fun,” said Ellen L. Albertoni, executive director of the Solvang Senior Center.
“The evening started with baskets of warm tortilla chips, bowls of freshly made salsa and fully loaded green salads,” Albertoni reported. “This was followed by scrumptious Sonoran style enchiladas, accompanied by sides of fluffy rice and beans. Heavenly slices of chocolate mousse pie, topped by fresh berries, rounded out the meal.”
The monthly Wednesday night dinners provide Solvang Senior Center members an opportunity to share a fantastic meal prepared by a local organization, Albertoni explained. Attendees, who must be members, get a chance to mingle, make new friends and spend time together on the third Wednesday of every month.
“The Solvang Rotary has been one of many community organizations that have been strong, constant supporters of the center,” she said, adding that the Rotaries are “always there to lend a helping hand to enhance the lives of our Valley seniors.”
The executive director thanked the Solvang Rotary and special guest chefs Gregg and Maria Paley — as well as Chris Lowry, Solvang Rotary president — for a wonderful evening and meal.
