Veggie Rescue's executive director Amy Derryberry will be on hand for a benefit Foxen winemaker dinner at Los Olivos Cafe on Feb. 11. 

Veggie Rescue has put out a call for volunteers. The nonprofit that gleans produce from local farms and the Solvang Farmers Market, and delivers it for schools, senior centers, and others in need, is looking for expand its volunteer base.

"We are in need of volunteers who have strong backs, and are able to lift crates of produce on and off our vans," said Executive Director Amy Derryberry. "They will also need to drive our can, and will be trained and insured by us.

"This is a great opportunity to meet our local farmers and see their gorgeous produce as well as deliver to the special organizations in our Valley making differences in other people's lives," she said.

Shifts are in blocks of two to three hours, available Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. Sign up for once a week or even once a month. For more information, contact Derryberry at 350-9154 or amy@veggierescue.org.
