Vikings to host annual kids Christmas Party

Santa and Mrs. Claus spend time with a guest at a previous Vikings Christmas Party.

The Vikings of Solvang will host their annual Christmas Party for special-needs children and adults at noon Monday, Dec. 5, at the Marriott Hotel in Buellton.

Each special guest will receive a unique gift from the Vikings Santa Claus, along with a tub of Danish cookies.

The Vikings will contribute nearly $20,000 for this event and will secure equipment and supplies to improve the development and learning skills of children and adults with special needs as part of this holiday tradition.

The Solvang Vikings are a social and philanthropic organization which coordinates help for the medically-related needs of individuals and health-care organizations, and strives to create a better quality of life.

Since the inception of The Viking Charities in 1975, the Vikings have raised and distributed more than $2.3 million to needy recipients.

There are a lot of youngsters who are disadvantaged through no fault of their own. The Solvang Vikings have made it their responsibility help alleviate the burden these young shoulders carry.

A tax-deductible donation may be mailed to Viking Charities Inc., a 501(c)3 organization, at P.O. Box 293, Solvang 93464.

In addition, the Vikings have an endowment fund to guarantee that the Vikings will be financially capable of funding greater levels of special health care needs in the future.

The Vikings pass along 100 percent of contributions without any deductions for overhead.
