Beckmen Vineyards is partnering with Return to Freedom, American Wild Horse Sanctuary, for a fundraiser from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday. Billed as The Tonic of Wildness, it will be a day to celebrate and raise much-needed funds for the sanctuary. The winery will introduce its Red Roan Wild Blend, accompanied by an afternoon of wine tasting, refreshments and live music.
Neda DeMayo founded Return to Freedom in 1997 with the goal of preserving America’s free-ranging wild horses. With their numbers rapidly dwindling, the sanctuary strives to protect this country’s remaining wild horses through sanctuary, conservation and education. Today, Return to Freedom provides acreage and refuge at three locations for over 350 wild horses and burros that have been captured and removed from state or federal lands.
The Beckmen Pond on the Beckmen Vineyards' property at 2670 Ontiveros Road, Los Olivos, is the setting for the event, hosted by Dr. Kevin and Rebecca Beckmen. Live music, organic foods and beverages and a tasting of Beckmen wines are included.
