CoastHills Credit Union is offering financial assistance programs for any existing members adversely affected by the federal government shutdown, a CoastHills spokesman said.

Formerly known as Vandenberg Federal Credit Union, CoastHills has been serving personnel affiliated with Vandenberg Air Force Base 60 years.

With furloughed federal employees working without pay since Dec. 21, CoastHills officials wanted to provide temporary support for members in need, the spokesman said.

“Our programs can provide critical, immediate support at a time when our member-owners trust us to step in and help,” said Paul Cook, CoastHills president and chief executive officer. “This is what credit unions do.”

The not-for-profit credit union currently has more than 67,000 members in Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Monterey and Santa Cruz counties

To find out what programs are available, CoastHills members can visit any of the credit union’s 11 branches or call the Support Center toll-free at 800-262-4488.
