LynnRae Dunn of Buellton joined Dunn School’s Development Office this summer as its first director of major gifts.

In her new role, she will focus on outreach and cultivating new resources for the school and the ongoing Leading Matters Campaign, a school spokesman said.

The independent school is in the final stages of its Leading Matters Campaign, a $10.1 million effort to support scholarships, curriculum and a new leadership center on the school’s Los Olivos campus.

Dunn has 15 years of fundraising experience, most recently serving as a director of development for the Loyola Law School at Loyola Marymount University.

Prior to that, she served as associate vice president of advancement at San Francisco Theological Seminary in San Anselmo.

A native of Northern California, Dunn has no relation to the family who founded the school, the spokesman said.

“I've spent much of my professional career fundraising for schools because I have seen the power and hope provided to students through a good education,” she said. “I am honored to put my skills and experience to use at Dunn School where generations of students have benefited from all that is offered here.”

She added that she found the way Dunn School is transforming education for the next generation of students to be truly inspiring.

“We’re fortunate to have someone of LynnRae’s talent and experience joining Dunn in this capacity,” said Head of School Mike Beck. “She is the right person to establish this new and much-needed position at Dunn, and we look forward to the impact she will have on the lives of our students and teachers.”

In recent years, Dunn School has raised $9.6 million in gifts and pledges toward the Leading Matters Campaign and plans to break ground on the Bronfman Leadership Center later this year, the spokesman said.

Located on a 55-acre campus, Dunn School is an independent residential and day school founded in 1957 that enrolls 250 students annually in grades six through 12 with a mission to educate the whole student to their fullest potential.
