Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital Auxiliary is now accepting applications for the $3,000 scholarships it offers each year to Santa Ynez Valley residents who want to pursue careers in a health- or medical-related field.

Applications for the 2018 scholarships will be accepted through March 15, an auxiliary spokeswoman said. Applications received after March 15 will not be accepted.

To be eligible, scholarship applicants must currently reside in the Santa Ynez Valley, be in or planning to enter health- or medical-related fields, have a letter of acceptance to an accredited college or university and have a minimum grade-point average of 3.5.

Applicants also must submit a one-page typed essay articulating their academic goals and future professional plans and provide at least one letter from a volunteer supervisor verifying community service.

Scholarship winners will be contacted in early April and invited to attend the annual SYVCH Auxiliary Thank-You Picnic, where they will receive their scholarship checks, set for noon Wednesday, April 25, in Santa Ynez.
