Wed., March 20: 5:30-7:30 p.m. “Shoot for Good Health” Free event celebrating Colon Cancer Awareness Month and YMCA 30th anniversary, will feature guest speaker Dr. Brent Kovacs, a gastroenterologist affiliated with Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital. Attendees are invited to enter the basketball free-throw contest for a chance to win an Apple Watch and other prizes. Nutrition and healthy lifestyle tips will be offered, as well as information on genetic counseling. Event to held at Stuart C. Gildred Family YMCA, located at 900 N. Refugio Road, Santa Ynez.

Fri. & Sun., March 22-24: "2nd annual NatureTrack Film Festival" kicks off Friday with an al fresco opening reception in the courtyard of St. Mark’s In-the-Valley Church prior to screenings that day and evening. A full slate of films will be offered on Saturday, and the festival will conclude on Sunday with a half day of programming and a closing reception. Films will screen at three venues in Los Olivos: the Santa Ynez Valley Grange, the Gates Foss Community Center at Los Olivos School and St. Mark’s in-The-Valley Church. Filmmaker panels, Q&As and “Meet & Greets” are part of the weekend event, along with special bonus and repeat screenings of select films. NatureTrack will also offer docent-led hikes for those wishing to take advantage of the abundant natural beauty of the Santa Ynez Valley for a more immersive outdoor experience. Fri., March 22: 8 p.m. "Flogging Molly to perform at Chumash Casino Resort" Irish Celtic punk band will bring its unique sound of traditional Irish music and punk rock to the Chumash Casino Resort’s Samala Showroom. Located on Highway 246 in Santa Ynez, California, the Chumash Casino Resort is an age 21-and-older venue. Sat., March 23: 6 p.m.: "Bel Canto by Candlelight” returns to Sunstone Vineyards in Santa Ynez with celebrity music and chefs. An evening of operatic music, delectable eats prepared by Chef Jeff Olsson of Industrial Eats, Chef Chris Joslyn of Los Olivos Wine Merchant & Café, and the Lucky Hen Larder. Sat., March 23: 5:30 – 8 p.m. "NatureTrack Film Festival presents Canadian Artist and Filmmaker, Cory Trépanier" as its 2019 Spotlight Dinner Guest Speaker, held in downtown Santa Ynez at 3569 Sagunto Street, adjacent to Dennee’s courtyard. Sat., March 23: 4 p.m. "Approaches to black and white photography" panel discussion at the Elverhoj Museum, led by three local fine art photographers, Paul Roark, George Rose and Christopher LT Brown. The range of possibilities offered by black and white photography will be discussed, from images inspired by the pioneers of photography to fresh interpretations that digital techniques allow. The event is free and the public is invited to join in the discussion. A social hour will follow with light refreshments served. Sun., March 24: 4 p.m. "Filmmaker Stephanie Bennett will hold a screening of her film “Hail! Hail! Rock ’n’ Roll" at the Lobero Theater in Santa Barbara. The film, a 1987 seminal music documentary based on Chuck Berry celebrating his sixtieth birthday, reveals the behind-the-scenes story of the rock legend. Bennett will also discuss her new book Johnny B. Bad: Chuck Berry and the Making of Hail! Hail! Rock ‘N’ Roll, based on the film. Sun., April 14: 2 p.m. (doors open at 1 p.m.) "Renowned pro-surfer and shark attack survivor Bethany Hamilton premieres her new documentary Unstoppable" at the Arlington Theatre in Santa Barbara. Hamilton will be interviewed live on stage by, Kathy Ireland®, Chair, CEO and Chief Designer of kathy ireland® Worldwide, following the showing of the film. Sat., April 27: 8 p.m. "Country music superstar Scotty McCreery" to perform at Solvang Festival Theater. Since McCreery's 2011 debut after winning “American Idol,” he has been rated one of country music’s hottest new stars, with nearly 3 million albums sold. Sat., April 27: 8 a.m. “Lost Almost Running Festival” a 5km, 10km and 25km run / walk family event that starts and finishes at historic downtown Los Alamos’ Ferrini Park, located at the corner of Bell and Centennial Streets (directly across from 388 Bell Street, Los Alamos). The race route will take walkers and runners through the “Old West” town and into rustic Drum Canyon, on a 100 percent-paved course lined with ancient oaks, farm fields and cattle ranches. The 25km course turns around at Dierberg Vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills, returning race entrants to the finish at Ferrini Park. Runners and walkers of all levels are welcome, as are strollers and dogs on leash. Water stations will be positioned every one and a half miles. Race entry fees ($25.00 / $35.00 / $55.00) will include a custom-printed, souvenir shirt for all participants and awards for top finishers. A raffle will also be available for entry, to include prizes from multiple local Los Alamos merchants, restaurants, wine tasting rooms and other businesses. Sat., June 29: 2-5 p.m. "Santa Barbara Wine + Food Festival" hosted by Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History will feature the Central Coast's premier wine and food purveyors. Net proceeds from the festival support the Museum’s nature and science education programs for all ages. Tickets cost $80 for Museum members and $105 for non-members. VIP tickets, including access to the VIP Lounge, early entry at 1 p.m., eight exclusive tastings and food pairings with winemakers, and more, cost $130 for Museum members and $155 for non-members.
