July 18: "Santa Ynez Valley Union High School 1997 Jeep Wrangler Sport customization project goes to auction" As part of the High School Vehicle Build Program project for the 2018-19 calendar year — the complete overhaul customization proect has been completed and will go up for auction on July 18. Supporters will be able to bid on the vehicle for seven days following its launch date through BringaTrailer.com. Proceeds from the sale will be reinvested into the high school auto program.

Fri., July 19: 8 p.m. "The Fray to perform at Chumash Casino Resort" The Grammy-nominated band that debuted in 2002 and scored with hits such as “Over My Head (Cable Car)” and “How to Save a Life,” will make their first appearance in the Samala Showroom. Sat., July 20: "5th annual Vintners 5 Miler" running event at Sanford Winery and Vineyards starts at 9 a.m. in front of the winery and covers a five-mile course suitable for runners of all abilities. The mixed terrain course, which includes a 350 ft. ascent to a scenic overlook with a commanding view of the Sanford estate vineyards on Santa Rosa Road, presents a challenge for experienced racers while the “Wine Walk” offers a mile-long course suitable for a leisurely stroll through the vineyard. Runners and walkers of all ages are eligible to participate in the Vintners 5 Miler. Registration for the event is available at www.sbvintnersrun.com.

Sat., July 20: 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. "Arroyo Hondo Preserve Herb Walk and Native Plant Sale" with Ojai native plant guide Lanny Kaufer and grower John Warner. Identify edible and medicinal plants of the Gaviota Coast, learn ecology of Arroyo Hondo Preserve, buy native plants direct from the grower. Cost: $30 adults, $25 seniors 62-up, $15 students 13-17. For this performance they are upping their game with the addition of world-renowned saxophonist Tod Dickow who has played with the likes of Harry Connick, Jr. and Dave Brubeck. Sat., Aug. 17: 12-3 p.m.: "National Honey Bee Day & Tasting" at Flying Goat Tasting Room in the Lompoc Wine Ghetto, located at 1520 East Chestnut Court. Lompoc Valley Beekeepers Association will have an observation hive and offer tips on backyard beekeeping, sustainable gardening and what you can do to save the bees. Solvang Stomp guests will have the opportunity to stomp grapes in vats barefoot, sip tastes from dozens of area wineries, dance to a live band, drink pink in the “I Love Rosé Lounge” and be able to purchase food inside the festival area from popular area eateries as well as participate in the “Lucy & Ricky Ricardo Look-a-Like Contest. Ongoing Events:

Now through Sept. 2: "Butterflies Alive! and Prehistoric Forest Summer Exhibits" open to the public. Visitors will be guided through a beautiful garden while nearly 1,000 live butterflies flutter freely around them. Various butterfly species will cycle through the pavilion throughout the summer, so no two visits will be the same. Visitors who cross the Museum’s wooden bridges over Mission Creek will enter Prehistoric Forest and take a stroll back in time to come face-to-face with dinosaurs in the wild: a Tyrannosaurus rex, armored Stegosaurus, high-crested Parasaurolophus, Triceratops and Ankylosaurus mothers with their young. These handcrafted moving animatronics from Kokoro Exhibits spark the imaginations of dinosaur-lovers of all ages.
