Fri., Sept. 21: 11 a.m. "The 6th annual PHP Golf Tournament" will benefit PHP programs that furnish health care to uninsured children and support healthy lifestyles for youth in the Santa Ynez and Los Alamos Valleys. The golf tournament will be held at the Alisal River Course with tournament sign-in at 11 AM and tee-off at 12 Noon. Registration is currently open for the tournament. Individual tournament fees are $150 per person and $500 for a foursome. Tee sponsorships are available for $250. Sat: Sept. 22, Oct. 6, 20, 27, and Nov. 3: Doors open at 5:00 pm with dinner served at 5:30 pm; the show begins at 6:30 pm. "Lompoc Civic Theatre dinner theater production of On Golden Pond" written by Ernest Thompson and directed by Anne F. Ramsey will open at the Ellery Room at The Mission Club. On Golden Pond was a successful Broadway play running for over 150 shows and nominated for both Tony and Drama Desk Awards. In 1981, it was released as a movie with Henry Fonda and Katharine Hepburn in the starring roles, who garnered Best Actor and Best Actress Oscars for their respective performances. Sat., Sept. 22: 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. "Santa Barbara Natural History Museum’s Renovated Backyard, Nature Club House, and new Butterfly Pavilion Opening" The popular Butterflies Alive! exhibit in the new Butterfly Pavilion will run from Saturday, September 22 to Sunday, October 14, 2018 and will be open daily when the butterflies are most active. The exhibit is free with paid Museum admission. Located just beyond the Pavilion, the renovated and ADA-accessible Museum Backyard is a nature play area nestled in the oak woodland along Mission Creek. Thurs., Sept. 27: 7 p.m. "Free lecture on Fire Management and the Future of Southern California’s Sky Islands” by Professor at UCSB’s Department of Ecology, Evolution and Marine Biology, Dr. Samuel Sweet at the Solvang Library, located at 1745 Mission Drive. This lecture will focus on the few remaining sky islands to illustrate what is being lost. The talk will also examine how current fire-management strategies could be modified in order to better protect these imperiled places. Sat., Oct. 6: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. "Gourd Art Workshop at the Wildling Art Museum" Kathy Badrak participants will create a colorful gourd bowl with a seagrass or a vine rim. Class is suitable for any level of experience with techniques and/or materials. The students should be able to finish their gourd bowl during the class. Students will be furnished with an approximate 6 – 7 inch diameter gourd. Each gourd will have been cut, cleaned and will be class ready. Class size is a max of 12 students and the minimum of 4. Wed., Oct. 10: 7:30-10 p.m. "Solvang Theaterfest Presents Mat Kearney with Special Guest Atlas Genius" performing at Solvang Festival Theater, 420 2nd Street, Solvang.  Soft rocker Kearney has 2.5 million Spotify followers and is touring in support of his 5th album. Atlas Genius is fronted by two brothers from Australia and had a huge hit in “Trojan.”. This is a benefit concert for the theater itself so no outside food/beverage permitted please.
