A report on the schedule for developing the next Agricultural Order will be delivered at the next Central Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board two-day meeting set for Thursday and Sept. 22 in Santa Barbara.
Each day, the meeting will start at 9 a.m. in the Planning and Development Hearing Room on the first floor of the Santa Barbara County Administration Building, 105 E. Anapamu St.
The report and discussion on the next Ag Order, formally known as the Conditional Waiver of Waste Discharge Requirements for Discharges from Irrigated Lands, will take place Thursday morning.
On Friday, the board will hear a presentation on recycled water policy from the State Water Quality Control Board’s Divisions of Drinking Water and Water Quality.
Ag Order 3.0 was adopted in March by the Central Coast water board, which directed staff members to begin preparing Ag Order 4.0 to replace the existing version when it expires in March 2020.
Results of several scoping meetings with stakeholders and the tentative schedule for future public meetings and approximate release dates for two draft versions will be included in the report to be delivered Sept. 21 following action on uncontested items.
Uncontested items consist of multiple issues that are usually approved in a single vote without discussion.
Thursday's list includes the termination, revision or reissuance of waste discharge requirements and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permits for operations in several Central Coast communities, including New Cuyama, Goleta and Carpinteria.
It also includes an update of waste discharge requirements and waivers for a number of small wineries throughout the Central Coast.
