Santa Ynez pitcher Armani Garcia deliver during Monday's game at Santa Maria. Garcia had 17 strikeouts in the Pirates' 4-1 win.

Armani Garcia, who's dominated Central Coast softball the past two seasons, had one of the better outings of her stellar career Monday.

Garcia struck out a career-high 17 batters in the Pirates' win at Santa Maria, ending the game with a strikeout after the Saints loaded the bases and ended Garcia's no-hit bid in the seventh inning.

Garcia gave up two hits, walked two batters and hit another, but needed her defense to make just four outs in the Pirates' win.

Garcia now has 30 strikeouts in 14 innings over two starts this season after the junior struck out 13 St. Joseph batters in the season opener last week.

Santa Ynez' Yesenia Vega went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles to help power the Pirate offense. Molli Kadlec had a run scored and an RBI for the Pirates. Michaela Baker drove in a run for Santa Ynez.
