The Santa Ynez Pirates have been one of the most consistent teams on the Central Coast, going 23-7 over the last three years. However, they have also been left out of the playoffs the last few years despite going 7-3 in 2015 and 8-2 in both 2016 and 2017.
Head Coach Josh McClurg has had to replace All-League performers in that time, and this year will be no different. Dustin Gregg led the Pirates through the air at quarterback last year, with one of his main targets being Gabe Prendergast. Both are gone.
But, players like Jasper Kadlec, Cash Trenseth and Marco Lazarit are looking to step up and continue the winning tradition of what has become one of the Central Coast's most consistent football programs.
So how will the Pirates match up with new league opponents this year, and how is the team preparing for the upcoming season?
