Central Coast Spikers win in SB

The Central Coast Spikers Club Volleyball Club sent three teams to the final Santa Barbara Blenders Tournament of the season and came home the winner.

“The teams all peaked at exactly the right time”, explained Don Barkas, Club Director who went on to say that, “all three teams made it to the semifinals of the playoffs.”

He went on to add that “our 14’s Team, Coached by Marie Chavis, eventually made it to the finals of the Gold Division and won that match, handily beating the Blenders Team by a score of 21 to 16 to take the championship.

“The Spikers Program, now in our second season of play, has always been very competitive, but this is the first time we have finished on top.”

The Spikers will be hosting summer training clinic sessions scheduled for late June through early July.  Boys and girls, ages 8 to 18 are invited to attend all or part of the age specific clinics from 10 a.m. to noon at the Solvang Elementary School Gym.  This program will also prepare high school athletes for pre-season practice and tryouts for local high school teams.
