In an effort to increase adoptions and promote healthy pets, the city of Santa Maria and several animal services organizations banded together to host Valentine’s Pet Wellness and Adoption Day on Thursday. The event, which hosted nine adoptable dogs and a mobile veterinary clinic that performed either spays, neuters or basic medical care on dozens of dogs, was held at the Elwin Mussell Community Center. It was organized by C.A.R.E. 4 Paws, Project Pet Safe, Santa Barbara County Animal Services, Santa Maria Valley Humane Society and That’s Fetch Pet Bowtique and Grooming Spaw.
